BMFA silent flight rules for 2026 have been published and are available for download from https://contests.bmfa.uk/all-rule-booksÂ
No major changes but three significant tweaks:
- F5J – minimum numbers for a League contest
Now reduced to 3 per slot for all rounds – 7.21.2.3. (Previously, min 4 per slot was required for the first Round. Some important and keenly-contested competitions were in danger of not qualifying for the League. Late suggestion on which SFTC did not have the opportunity to consult). - F5J – firmware
Firmware settings which allow a motor restart for zero points now required – 7.21.1.2. (Big majority of pilots use such firmware settings anyway. There was an incident at Interglide 2025 involving a pilot who did not. In consultation, there was big majority (though not universal) support for the change.) - F3F – League schedule
Flexibility for organisers to mount additional two-day League contests – 7.4.5.
